  ERIK DAYRELL
Associate
Landscape Designer

Master of Landscape
Architecture
2006

Experience:
As a new addition to the Jacobs/Ryan Associates team, Erik joined in July of 2006 and has contributed to several roof deck projects and a redesign of the lion enclosure at Lincoln Park Zoo. Erik has also been working on a new residential development project located on a site originally designed by Jens Jenson. Erik has brought an interest in sustainable design to the JRA team, stemming from his strong background in the natural sciences.

As an undergraduate at Michigan State University, Erik studied ecology and animal behavior. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Zoology, he spent 7 months at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park in Paignton, England studying the effects of new enclosure design on captive animal behavior. While pursuing an MLA from the University of Michigan, Erik focused on landscape perception and studied the effects of aesthetics on decision-making processes.
